Income during waiting period

Hello everyone! Was just curious what everyone had done for income for the gap between working and getting benefits? I am currently working and can’t afford to not work. However I have missed a lot of work lately due to my disabilities. We are building our house this spring and so I can’t be without any income. Any and all advice and suggestions are welcome. I’m just at such a loss right now 😭
