Sewage Backup Twice in a Year

To make long story short; had sewage come up out of our basement floor drain back in December. Called the plumber, they cleaned it up and got the drain unclogged. Went down to our basement today and found the remnants of sewage but no standing sewage like last time.

So what are my next steps:

1. Can I clean it up myself since the drain is working?

2. Should I call a plumber to clean/fix the issue at hand?

3. If 2, what could be the issue and what do we think issue could be?

Any advice would be appreciated!
