Upgrading Trek 520

Hi all, apologies if this seems like a stupid question. Am still new to this. I have a 520 with a mix match of gears Sora shifters, Alivio rd, recently it got stuck whilst on the road, so it doesn’t inspire confidence, am looking to upgrade to reliable 1x group set, am not lugging things all the time so I don’t really need very high climbing gears.

Do you all have any suggestions on the group set I should go for? (Predominantly aiming for road use to my neighbouring country)

Read hub is shimano m475 which should be able to accommodate 11 speed.
