The iPhone reviewers saying the camera button is not good are wrong.
I’m at a music festival today. Have been tasked with making a promo video. My 16 pro max arrived Friday. I took a huge gamble and didn’t bring my Canon 5D and thought I’d push the boat out and film the whole thing iPhone.
The button takes a tiny tiny bit of time to get used to but I absolutely guarantee you this has had professional photographer/videographer input. I’ve been doing this for 15 years so this is why I’m confident on this fact.
The button is WAY better than doing all this stuff on screen. And the reviewers saying it is positioned in the wrong place are, imo, wrong. I’ve used it exclusively, not touching the screen at all and it honestly makes the iPhone feel like a pro video camera. Being able to quickly drop exposure, rack focus, and change f-stop is bloody brilliant. This is most definitely not a gimmick. It’s like Apple have gone back to the Steve jobs era of user experience being at the top of the priority list.
A side note also that the cinematic mode (which I almost always shoot in) has seen massive improvements on this phone, coupled with iOS 18. It makes footage almost indistinguishable from dslr footage in certain situations/lighting.
edit to the people raging at me and saying I’m not a professional, and to the person who dm’d me and said I was an idiot, I did not say this was a paid, professional gig. It’s a freebie for a friend. Calm yourselves down. Jesus 😂*
