Guy that were around the scene in the ‘90s - how were the Allman Brothers thought of by the jam scene? Obviously there’s a connection between the Dead and the ABB, but seems like their acceptance in the scene has increased in the past 20 years because of all Warren Hayes’ projects that lean jammier.

Were people seeing them as part of the “jam circuit” or were they more lumped in with the southern rock thing?

I feel like towards the end of their run in the 2005-2014 era when I first jumped on their we’re leaning more towards their jammier side with Hayes and Trucks.

Were they thought of as kind of a nostalgia act before Hayes joined?

Not saying they were but just wondering how people felt about them then
