Are ticks extra bad this summer?

I’ve found two ticks on myself so far this spring/summer. First one was after a Memorial Day trip to a rural cemetery, but the second was after returning from Lee’s Summit!?! I have no companion animals so I don’t know how bad it might be for pets. Anyone else seeing more ticks than usual?
