Timeline: eVisa sorted! (New ID doc added)
Like many, I have fretted about eVisa over the past year. Obviously the recent fiasco does not help much. I'm travelling outside of the UK in less than two weeks, so I started looking at this thing last week. Here's a short timeline of how I sorted it:
30 Nov: Submit request to update UKVI login details, also to add identity doc to my account with my current BRP number.
6 Dec: Request to update and add id doc accepted.
7 Dec: Submit request to link eVisa to my account and SAME DAY ACCEPTED!
Total amount of processing time: A week. :)

For those who had trouble login, this below might help:
During this process, I realised that when I switched my status from grad to swv, my login details did not change accordingly. My signin details still showed I had the previous BRP number and expiry date, despite my status showed otherwise. Fortunately, I still had my old BRP (when I received my current one, the letter did not request me to post back the old one, so I keep it.) This is also the reason why I could not pass identity check using the UKVI id app.
To solve it, I logged in to my ukvi account and clicked 'signin details', and added new doc. There I submit my new/current brp number. I thought it was going to take forever for them to get my case, so I was really surprised yesterday that it was updated. The rest is really straightforward (I was then able to verify my id using the app), and again surprised by same day acceptance on eVisa.
I read a post on this sub about a question answered by the parliament (?) about extending acceptance of physical card on border until March 2025. That helped a bit on my anxiety. I think I will still carry my physical card when travelling just in case.
Hope this helps.
